We used the Bendel principal selection system in our principals’ competition. During a feedback review of the process both the candidates and the assessment team members spoke highly of the rigorous but fair system for selection.

A year or two before the recent competition when we used the assessment centre approach (using the materials and the process developed by Bendel Services), we had a human rights complaint about the process. An unsuccessful candidate claimed that it discriminated against him for reasons of race. During the formal investigation that followed the investigators were so impressed with the impartial assessment data collection that the case was dropped almost immediately. I was told that this kind of dismissal was virtually unheard of up to that point.
