  • a viewable recording link (available for a limited time)
  • a personalized certificate of participation.

SESSION 1 – PREPARING FOR THE INTERVIEW

The first session will help you prepare for your interview, with a focus on questions that deal with standard issues but also with current issues such as teaching indigenous education, techniques such as synchronous & asynchronous teaching and managing diversity, equity and fairness in the classroom.

At this session, you will:

  • Learn how to prepare for common teaching questions;
  • Become familiar with all three interview types;
  • Learn how to avoid the common pitfalls of first-time applicants;
  • Become familiar with gathering information on “The Three Ps”;
  • Watch a demonstration of a simulated interview question/answer.

SESSION 2 – SUCCESS IN THE INTERVIEW

Do you ever wonder what interviewers are looking for, what they are writing, and whether you are on the right track with your responses? The second session will guide you through the process of nailing an interview, from the first impression to the follow-up.

This includes:

  • The advantages and pitfalls of bringing a portfolio;
  • Creating a positive image, from dress to properly timing of your responses;
  • Making a power statement and finishing strongly;
  • Responding during an interview with a demonstration of a simulated interview  question/answer.

SESSION 3 – TRANSITIONING FROM OCCASIONAL TO PERMANENT TEACHING

Congratulations, you made it to the occasional teacher or long-term occasional teacher list.  How do you make yourself stand out, paving the way for a permanent contract?  In this final webinar, you will learn how to assess a school environment, find a permanent role and position yourself for success while in the midst of a pandemic.

We will review:

  • Strategies for establishing and maintaining a positive presence in the school;
  • What principals are looking for in full-time hires;
  • Scanning the environment to determine what a school is looking for;
  • Responding during an interview with a demonstration of a simulated interview  question/answer.

Cost:  1 session $149 or the 3-Part Series $199 (plus HST/GST).

    I took this webinar back in September and October 2020. I didn’t have any sort of teaching job and wanted to get my foot in the door. With their 3 webinars I felt more prepared for interviews in terms of how to prepare for them and what to expect. I now have a OT position with a board, and was a lot more prepared for LTO interviews as well. They spent the time to explain information, and the Q&A sessions lasted more than an hour. The two were also reachable in email as well if you didn’t get a chance to ask your question. Great webinar series!

    I would highly recommend these webinars as a must for any teachers serious about finding work. You will learn how ” the system” works in the school boards and which interview strategies and type of preparation will help you succeed. I was particularly impressed by Jen and Dan’s generosity with their time and answering questions long after the webinar was due to finish – our enthusiasm was matched by theirs. Jen and Dan have a wealth of experience between them, Jen having an HR background and Dan an impressive Education CV including superintendent roles. The Get Hired series really does what it says on the tin and gives you the confidence and tools to obtain that coveted interview in the first place, and gain employment rather than ‘spin your wheels’ indefinitely. Well worth the reasonable fee charged for this excellent course.

    As a new teacher, I can genuinely say that this webinar series provided a lot of insight that you just can’t find online. Prior to my first interview, I thought I was prepared after finding a few interview questions that other teachers had posted in the past. But, boy was I wrong. This webinar series will provide you with the tips and tricks to TRULY be prepared for an interview. Also, the e-books are filled with valuable information that help you stay refreshed and confident for future interviews as well. I had several “aha!” moments throughout this series as to why my first interview was unsuccessful. This webinar definitely opened my eyes to new strategies and perspectives on how to respond to interview questions accurately. Furthermore, Jen and Dan are both so wonderful. They are very personable and create such a warm environment for the sessions. The sessions often went longer than scheduled (but that just goes to show how thorough and in-depth the sessions are). The Q&A time period went well over an hour sometimes! Jen and Dan took the time to carefully answer each question. I absolutely recommend this webinar series to new teachers trying to get their foot in the door, to experienced teachers that are trying to land a permanent position, and to teachers that are coming back from a break from teaching. This webinar series is relevant for all! 🙂

    The Get Hired Series is an excellent way to prepare yourself professionally for the interview process, especially if this is your first time going through it and unsure about the hiring process. Every board and experience can be different, and being able to speak with other going through the process and those who have experienced it already is a great way to get first hand experience and feel you have a support team to back you up! Through live feedback, question and answer, and the practical advice and tips Jen and Dan provide, the Get Hired Series will help you prepare to be your best self in the interview. I highly recommend this series.

    I want to thank you for providing teachers with the information and tools for a successful interview.

    Thanks to your advice and conversations with others, I was confident and prepared for my interview and can tell you that it was my most successful interview ever! I am looking forward to my new role as a supply teacher closer to home.

  6. Tim

    I really appreciate the individual attention and insight that is being shared. There is a genuine concern for attendees and to facilitate an amelioration of their situation limited only by what is available.

  7. Laura

    I just wanted to thank you again, Jen and Dan, for putting on this webinar series! It was very informative and helpful. I feel that it helped boost my confidence back up after some hard times with not getting positions in the fall/winter. I am so glad I signed up for the series and felt it was extremely useful for the interview process.
